When and where is this taking place, dude?

Saturday, 1st October 2016. And maybe the day after, if we decide to meet for breakfast before heading home for the weekend.

Venue is the National Centre for Computing History, Cambridge. It’s about 30mins walk from Cambridge Train Station and just across the road from Cambridge Retail Park.

What about lunch/tea/supper?

There are a number of eateries within a ten minute walk of the venue. Rest assured we will leave sufficient breathing space for you to grab fish and chips, or indeed chips and teats. Well, maybe not teats.

What’s happening at this festival, then?

It’s funny you should ask! Or not, seeing as this is an FAQ. Anyway, here’s some info on confirmed activities:

Daytime – Teletext and tech stuff

Superbyte

Teletext designers panel – Just how do you make a teletext page? Can I make my own? Well, wonder no more, for the teletext artists are here to explain all.

Make Your Own Teletext Art – Drop in to the Teletext Block Party booth for a sandwich and live teletext editing session.

Teletext time machine: VHS teletext recovery demo – Capturing teletext pages from VHS and Betamax is, amazingly, entirely possible. Bring your tapes and see what gems are hidden in the VBI signal.

Teletextr live podcast recording – Attend a live recording of episode 5 of the Teletextr Podcast, the internet’s premier (and only) teletext podcast.

Evening – Digitiser stuff

The Man
Top Secret Film Screening – A screening of what? Whatever it is… you won’t want to miss it, probably.

The Ultimate Digitiser Panel-Me-Do – Special guests Violet Berlin, Tim “Mr Hairs” Moore, and Gavin “Mr Udders” Lambert, join myself and our host, top stand-up comedian Chris Coltrane, for two hours of interactive talks about all things Digitiser.

Plus more! We wouldn’t want to spoil the surprise now, would we?

…Actually, we don’t know what else yet. But we’re working on it…

What types of ticket are available?

At time of writing, two tiers of ticket – Daytime-Evening & Evening – are available at £10 each. Daytime places are limited, so please be honest about which you would like to attend. If you’re only interested in the evening stuff, please consider buying an evening only ticket. Cheers!

Where can I buy tickets?

At the Digitiser Shop, here.

Are there limits on the number of tickets per person?

Well, not really. But please consider your fellow teletexters! And if we see anyone flogging tickets on eBay, we’ll be forced to… sob uncontrollably.

What if I have a question that’s not in this FAQ?

Tweet to me @illarterate and I/we/it shall endeavour to answer thine question.

Please note that all info is correct at time of writing, and this FAQ is subject to change as more stuff is announced. Until then, muck-mucka-muck, or something.

Visit the Digi Shop for tickets.
