TeleNFT is a group of mostly Germany-based artists producing fully on-chain teletext art with the Tius teletext editor, aiming to make all their pieces purchasable as NFTs. They have collaborated with the Museum of Teletext Art and European services to host physical exhibitions and broadcast their art in Germany and Austria.
“How can you create an image, send a message, convey a feeling, when so few colours are available and so few pixels fit on the digital canvas? Actually you can’t, and that’s why it’s all the more fascinating if it works.”
– TeleNFT
TeleNFT’s first, eponymous project featured 15 international artists and broadcast on German service SAT.1 in January 2022. A collaboration with MUTA, the exhibition questioned “technological progress in the context of economic and environmental crises.” In the words of exhibition curators Max Haarich and Gleb Divov, the artworks documented “our zeitgeist, sometimes ironically resigned, sometimes uninhibitedly euphoric, but united in one conviction – now it’s up to us.”
Works addressed subjects such as the environment (depicted by BuzzLightning and KleinTonno), cryptocurrency and NFT culture (Nissla) in styles such as pop art (Claudie Linke), glitch art and infographics (Jarkko Räsänen).
On 23 July 2022, TeleNFT held a teletext art workshop at the 1E9Tech Festival, Deutsches Museum with the Tius teletext editing software. The resulting works were broadcast on SAT.1 page 484.
TeleNFT’s next exhibition, Teletext Ist Kunst (Teletext Is Art), was broadcast on ARD and ORF Teletext from 1-21 September 2022. Once again featuring 15 artists, it was shown at ARS Electronica from 7-9 September, broadcast in 8K at the Deep Space viewing area. It raised questions about current world affairs, taking non-neutral stances – “instead of illustrating sex hotlines,” it preferred to “offer entertainment in the form of eerie short stories.”
The big comeback
In October 2025, TeleNFT hosted their World Events exhibition, examining “societal progress in times of global crises.” 15 artists produced one piece each, to be broadcast on ORF and ARD Text and put on sale from November. Max Haarich and sp4ce addressed AI and ChatGPT, Claudie Linke referenced the “climate conflict”, while Dan Farrimond focused on retro tech still used in the year 2025.
