It’s back for 2025! The Teletext Community Advent Calendar will be shown on Finland’s Yle Text during December, bringing festive art to your screens once more.
Christmas teletext art is a tradition that began in the mid-1970s with graphics expertly-crafted using rudimentary teletext software that would have been more difficult to navigate than today’s variety of editors.
Like lovingly gift-wrapped delights positioned under an evergreen tree, services would often leave a selection of artworks for people to enjoy over the holidays while a number of employees took their annual leave.
In association with long-time champions of teletext art Yle Text, we are aiming to continue the tradition of those low-res wonders with our own humble little project, the Teletext Advent Calendar(s).
Community Advent Calendar
Each day of the month, a new teletext artwork will appear on page 832 of Yle Text, symbolising a single door on a traditional Advent calendar. Previous days’ artworks will also be archived, browsable via Yle’s Advent calendars index page.
In December 2025, view the Advent calendar online here.
We intend to publish all artworks on Demozoo following completion of the project in January 2026.

‘Live’ Advent Calendar
But that’s not all! As in previous years, Wim has also designed a one-page calendar that slowly reveals itself up to the big finale on Christmas Day 2025. What will be featured today?
In December 2025, see Wim’s one-page calendar online here.
