Carl Attrill (Retrotext/Teletextr)

ComputerWorld by Carlos

Biography

‘Carlos’ is presenter of the Teletext People Podcast, as well as co-presenter on Teletext Sofa Club and the Teletext R Podcast. The latter is named after a teletext service he founded in 2015, later adopted by a demogroup that exhibited at Block Party Cambridge 2017.

Carl began creating teletext art in 2015, putting together his own mini-service entitled TeletextR. A handful of editions were made in Flair and WXTed, and collected in short videos that showed off numerous elaborate teletext artworks.

That summer, he helped facilitate the first Teletext Block Party (an event he came up with the name for) held at Tate Britain in London. His technical expertise saved the day when a television remote failed – he removed the batteries and licked them before placing them back and restoring to device to perfect health. Don’t try this at home, kids.
