The physical Block Party might have been put on hold, but its teletext art competition lives on! David at Arbitrary Files is hosting this one, and has established three categories: Novice (for newcomers), Veterans (for the seasoned teletexters) and Red Button (the theme for this Block Party).
Enter/more details here.
Deadline: 26 April 2020
Here are the exciting prizes:
- Free trip to your living room
- Invisible Volvo
- Emperor’s new clothes (shop soiled)
- Chocolate teapot (eaten)
Winners of the 2018 Block Party competition were Andy Jenkinson, Carl Attrill, Sam Meech, Steve Horsley and Dan Farrimond. See here for more information.
To submit your artwork (as a teletext data file or edit-tf/zxnet URL), see here. There are a few rules but they’re very simple. If you have any questions about submissions, feel free to Tweet at Alistair Cree.
You can also create your artwork on the Block Party server, which allows you to save your page(s) straight to Chunky Text. These don’t have to be competition entries, just stuff you want to be seen in neon lights on teletext. Here is your gateway to this magical world (AKA the teletext viewer).
