Valentine’s Day/Yystävänpäivä Teletext Art on Yle Text

Max Haarich

Yystävänpäivä (Friend’s Day) is upon us, and for 2022, Finland’s friendly Yle Text are showcasing artwork on the theme of ‘love’.

Featuring the work of 14 artists, this exhibition presents 26 new artworks (with 1 collaboration). That includes 5 fresh-faced newcomers who have yet to be seen in previous Yle projects.

Artistic styles range from graffiti to collage and realism, all rendered in the familiar pixel mosaics that constitute teletext.

Don’t worry if you can’t access the Yle TV channel – during February 2022, you can view the artworks on YLE Text page 820 via the online viewer.

Scroll down for a brief taster of the lovingly-crafted creations.

Roses are magenta,
Violets are cyan,
Teletext we sent ya,
But my TV contrast is broken!
