For one night only, teletext has made a triumphant return to the BBC. Wednesday’s edition of The One Show featured a segment on Ceefax and its successor Teefax, including contributions from teletext legends Mort Smith and Peter Kwan.
The 5-minute feature, hosted by Ceefax is Here presenter Angela Rippon, was recorded at the Montacute Museum of retro delights in Somerset. It proves the perfect host for a gallery of teletext art from Horsenburger, Max Capacity and Andyuglifruit to name but a few.
There is also a mention for the mythical Ceefax Holidays, and even more intriguingly, Bamboozle. However, there is no comment on Bamber Boozler’s recent big money move to Teefax and Teletext Ltd’s hefty sell-on clause.
For UK viewers, the full One Show episode is available on iPlayer until the end of February. The feature begins just after the 46 minute mark. If you’re reading this after February 2020, here is a video for your viewing pleasure.
